Rustin Verret

Rustin is a lifelong Texan, born-and-raised in Austin. After attending Last Chance Choir Camp, during high school, he went on to study music at the University of North Texas, double majoring in Music Education and Vocal Performance. Although he enjoys exploring other paths of music, choral music is what started it all when he went through the TMEA All-State process in high school.

Rustin has sung with multiple UNT choirs including the internationally renowned A Cappella Choir, Concert Choir, University Singers, Chorale, and Grand Chorus, as well as conducting labs such as Conductor’s Chrous and UpFront!. Rustin holds leadership positions in student organizations at UNT including UpFront! and UNT’s ACDA chapter. Outside of UNT, Rustin serves as a choral scholar at Aldersgate Methodist Church. During the summer, Rustin continues to nurture his passion of choral music and leadership through camps including UNT’s All-State Camp and Last Chance Choir Camp. He also recently sang in the Dublin Choral Festival over the summer.

Beyond choral singing, Rustin enjoys growing his skills as a conductor, teacher, and researcher, as well as exploring his voice through solo repertoire and opera. Recent opera performances include Bizet’s Carmen (Opera Arlington), the world premiere of Lisa DeSpain’s That Hellbound Train (UNT), Rachmaninoff’s Aleko (UNT), and Mozart’s Don Giovanni (Opera Arlington). Rustin will continue his studies at UNT this fall.

In the rare moments that he is not making music, Rustin enjoys chatting over coffee, swimming, collecting vinyl records, and spending time with loved ones.
